Pacific Gateway helps Veterans access a number of resources through our partnership with the Employment Development Department (EDD), and connections to other organizations. Often, Veterans are eligible for a number of special resources.
Some of our no-fee services include:
- Employment preparation that includes vocational guidance, career counseling, workshops on resume preparation, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies
- Referrals to employment and training programs, including on-the-job training opportunities
- Connections to the Veterans Service Center at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base
- Referrals and easy access to Veteran benefits and community services
- Transition & Housing Assistance Programs to provide a smooth transition for individuals leaving the military and going into the private sector
- Referrals and service information for the Long Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center

Pacific Gateway has partnered with the Orange County Workforce Investment Board (OCWIB) and the State of California's Employment Development Department (EDD) to provide the Veterans' Employment-Related Assistance Program (VEAP). VEAP is designed to provide veterans with training that can lead to industry recognized certificates and/or degrees that are required to obtain employment within high growth industries. The program targets veterans who recently separated from active military duty within the last 48 months, veterans with significant barriers, or campaign veterans.
VEAP services include:
- Short-term vocational or on-the-job training
- Assistance with transitioning from military to civilian employment
- Assessment of skills and interests
- Career guidance and exploration
- Job skills development, including interview/preparation, resume development, and networking
- Job placement assistance
- Follow-up services to facilitate job retention
