C-17 Meeting Records

In September 2015, the City of Long Beach was awarded $3,995,609 by the US Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment (DOD-OEA), to help the City and its residents strengthen its economic position in the wake of the Being C-17 Plant closure.  DOD-OEA invests in communities that have experienced an economic impact due to the termination of a military contract or operation.

Pacific Gateway led the effort to request these funds and serves as the project management team.  Grant funds were primarily directed toward three areas:  direct assistance to impacted workers and firms; support for City-led exploration, planning, and zoning to ensure the site and area are developed in alignment with the City’s economic development vision, culminating in a Master Plan document; and economic and labor market analysis to guide investments in the aforementioned areas.

Community Meetings

A key part of this project is the engagement of members of the community and stakeholders to provide valuable feedback on possible uses for the former C-17 Plant, as well as on data and market analysis developed by the project team.

This site serves as the repository of planning, research and other information related to this project, including materials shared at Community Meetings.
